I know I already blogged today but with all of the hype going around from President Obama finally stating that he, as President, supports gay marriage (though he supported it as a Senator), I thought I'd share my feelings and thoughts on this topic...
"WE, THE FIRST PRESIDENCY and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children."
This is the opening sentence of "The Family: A Proclamation to The World," a proclamation released by my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints.
I fully believe that marriage is only to be between a man and woman. We were sent to this earth to marry and procreate and to serve Heavenly Father, and we do all of these things to return to Him again.
Now I am not at all saying that we should not love all of God's children, hetero- and homo- sexual alike. We must continue to love and treat everyone the same, no matter what. Though you don't necessarily support their lifestyles and hobbies, you must treat everyone like a human being and the son or daughter of God that they are.
Whether you're Mormon, Baptist, Non- Denomination, Methodist, Lutheran, Protestant, Catholic, or any other form of Christianity, or not even Christian, I invite you to read the rest of The Proclamation and read the rest of the eternal truths stated.

Busy.
So here I go again, rambling on about how busy I am. This past weekend was super busy and went by just as fast as it came and this school week has been super busy a stressful. And let's just top it off with me starting work last night.
Kaitlin came up to visit on Friday and we had a blast. We went to the Diamond Rio concert, or should I say I dragged her to the Diamond Rio concert and she wanted to claw her eyes out? :) We then went to Buffalo Wild Wings (one of my favorite places in the world to eat) and we went to our favorite hang out, WinCo.
Megan and my favorite roommate, Jena came along with us but basically Kaitlin and I were the life of the party, but is that even a question?
School has been super busy and I'm super stressed out. As I write this I'm sitting in the hall before a class. After class, I have to go home, take a nap, and study my behind off and read Macbeth and watch Macbeth for my Humanities test. Goodness gracious! However, Heavenly Father is the greatest and has decreased some of the stress in my life, enabling me to study more than anticipated for this test. My science class was canceled today, I haven't had homework for my Writing for Journalism class, and I am exhausted, but I even have time scheduled in for a quick cat nap.
I'm so grateful that I have been recognizing the tender mercies in my life a little bit more, not just the big blessings that I receive.
Speaking of blessings. I have a job in this horrible economy. For that, I give many thanks.
I started work at the JCP store in Idaho Falls. I was excited however, I am in the men's department. Not fun. Do you know how many different kinds of Levi's there are? And they don't have names, just numbers. Goodness! Hopefully, it will get better. And if not, I'll suck it up. :)
Got to run,
Lots of love,
Kori

Gratitude.
I haven't posted in quite a while ... so much for increasing my writing skills, huh?
I have been super busy this past week with school and ... more school. Yes, my life is quite exciting these days.
Between me going to school and doing homework, I have realized a few things that I'm grateful for:
Idaho.
I know, I know. This sounds crazy, but just sit back and read this story that happened on Friday ...
Megan and I went to Sams and Target and while we were in Target, I of course wandered over to the shoe area. While there I put down my phone, or at least I'm guessing that's where I put it, and I walked away from it and forgot about it! I proceeded to check out and drive back to the Burg and then realized my phone was missing! I turned around and ran back into Target tried to find my phone ... it was nowhere to be found. A cashier finally went to the customer service desk, looked, and found my phone! Someone had turned it in.
So why am I grateful for Idaho? People here (for the most part), are super honest and turn in lost phones. In Florida, if you lost an iPhone, it is gone forever.
The Temple.
Rexburg has the ability to produce breath-taking sunsets. I took these pictures just with my phone on a walk with some friends.
The Rexburg temple is always so beautiful, especially at sunset and night time. You can't help but marvel at this Holy place every time you even glance at it.
Yesterday I was walking home in the horrible wind storm (I was literally being blown around), and I had a revelation. While the whole world around me was being tossed to- and -fro, I looked at the temple. While you would think that wind that strong would make Moroni waver and sway, but he didn't. I then realized, or maybe was just reminded, that nothing in this world is constant and steady except for the Gospel ... and for that, I am grateful.
On a side note, I am also grateful for the temple for the promise of eternity with your spouse and family. My best friend Alyson just got engaged last night to Sam, and I'm just so excited for them both! I can't wait for August 20 when they both say yes to eternity!
That's all for now...
So much love,
K

The Beginning.
After much contemplation and mediation, I, Kori Alizabeth Withers, have decided to start a blog. Maybe it's that I feel left out that all of my friends have a blog and I don't or maybe it's because my journalism teacher told my class it would improve our writing skills. Either way, I've done it, and here it is.
First, let me explain the title of my blog. I am a southern belle, and proud of it. I embrace my sweet Southern heritage and try to share it with as many as I can. For the second part, Potato Land. I am currently going to school in Idaho...the land of potatoes. Yes, you may be asking yourselves why in the world am I going to school in Idaho and I ask myself that question multiple times a day and frankly, I have no idea. I just know for some reason, I need to be here.
Now, for a little about myself. I'm just a normal 19 girl trying to figure my life out. Right now, I am studying Communications with an emphasis is Broadcast Journalism. I'm not sure if this is the career I really want to do, but for as long as I can remember I've loved the news. However until I begin my career, I am a shoe sales woman for JC Penney. I LOVE this company. I have shopped there for as long as I could remember, but I never knew how well they care and treat their employees. I kind of don't want to work during school but obviously I have to to survive and I'm sure my friends understand when I can't hang out.
FRIENDS! I almost forgot. I have some of the best in the world. I'm in the weird transition phase where I'm really not speaking to kids from high school anymore and trying to come to terms with it. But here's a brief rundown of my friends:
Megan Alyse Roxas.
Yup, she's my sister and my very, very best friend. And that's her husband, Jet and her sweet son, Eli. She's 5 years older than me and so much wiser. She and Jet are the most awesome people I've ever known. This past winter I lived in Provo and lived less than 5 minutes away. It was the best winter of my life! Megan and I haven't lived that close to each other in almost 5 years! That's crazy! Leaving her and the fam was seriously that saddest thing ever. I just love them so much!
Alyson Vera Corbett.
She is my fav. She's the best. She's the crem da la crem! She's the big cheese. She's the greatest errrr. She's one of my bestest friends! We were roommates during the winter and I had one of the best times of my life with her We'd share secrets, and talk about our shopping addictions, and share shoes (among other things;) She's seriously one of the sweetest girls I've ever met. She's patient and loving. She's is kind, she is smart, she is important. :) I loved taking pictures of her with my new camera I got for Christmas. She and her man, Sam, were my guinea pigs. They are so great for each other!
Kaitlin Richey Fitts.
I love this girl to death! She's hilarious, and a tad bit ridiculous...but I wouldn't have her any other way! Kate is one of the nicest and most charitable people I've ever met! She always puts others before herself and when she says she worships you, she means it!She's my night owl. We would stay up way too late watching the O.C. and clips from Gossip Girl. She's the greatest. I'm so grateful to be able to call her a best frannnn.
Megan Lynn Fowler.
We've been besties since the 7th grade and she's my soul sister. We finally get to go to school together...I know she's super excited. She can't leave my apartment, She's here everyday...and it's the best. I'm going to estimate by the end of the semester she will owe over $500 worth of food. haha.
I'm so sorry for this first post being so long. I didn't mean for it to be. It just kind of happened. I can't and won't promise a post daily, or ever weekly, but one this I can promise; when I post, it will be long. I always, always have a lot to say...so be prepared!
So much love,
Kori
